Irvington Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Irvington’s elementary network includes eight schools serving the primary grades, followed by several grade 6–8 settings rather than one townwide middle school. Union Avenue Middle School, University Middle School, and Anna B. Scott Junior STEAM Academy give the district more than one secondary-entry environment. A student’s move after fifth grade must be confirmed through the district assignment process instead of inferred from the word “middle” in a school name.

Anna B. Scott has a program role beyond being one of several middle-grade settings. Current district budget materials describe the grades 6–8 Junior STEAM Academy as a pipeline to Rita L. Owens STEAM Academy. That gives Irvington a linked STEAM pathway in program design, but it does not make high-school entry automatic.

Irvington High School remains the regular comprehensive destination. Rita L. Owens operates as a satellite campus with its own admissions process, information sessions, and application for eighth graders. Students may encounter assignment among the 6–8 schools first, then a separate admissions decision before ninth grade; the formal assignment notice and current academy materials control each step.
