Bayonne Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Bayonne’s eleven community schools carry much more of the K–8 experience than a conventional elementary network. Many students remain in the same community-school setting from preschool or kindergarten through eighth grade, then move directly into the citywide high-school stage. The first major merger comes at grade nine, when students from across the city enter Bayonne High School. An elementary address can shape classmates, travel, family events, and the main school contact across most of childhood.

Preschool should be treated separately from that long K–8 path. Bayonne places young children through district classrooms and approved community providers; the preschool placement is separate from the later community-school assignment. Once students reach the regular school sequence, however, the structure becomes easy to follow: a long local phase and then one comprehensive high school. Bayonne High School broadens the peer group and course menu without introducing a second high-school boundary or a new regional board. The important questions are where the child is placed for preschool, which community school serves the home address, and how the grade-nine transition changes a routine that may have remained stable for many years.
