Bridgeton Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Bridgeton’s ordinary school path is built around six schools that continue through eighth grade. Foster Early Childhood Center provides a separate starting point for some young children, but once students enter the neighborhood network they generally do not leave for a standalone middle school. The first citywide merger comes at Bridgeton High School in grade nine.

That long K–8 span gives the initial assignment unusual weight. The same school can shape a child’s peer group, family contacts, and daily routine across elementary and middle-grade development. ExCEL appears separately in the district’s school network as an alternative setting; it should not be mistaken for a regular feeder stage that every student passes through. For most families, the structure is simpler: early-childhood placement if applicable, one neighborhood K–8 school, then the comprehensive high school. The key transition is not fifth or sixth grade, but the move after eighth grade when six long-standing school communities finally combine.
