About Hillsborough Township Public Schools
Hillsborough separates the elementary years from the rest of the district at a clean grade boundary. Amsterdam, Hillsborough, Sunnymead, Triangle, Woodfern, and Woods Road serve the K–4 population. At grade five, those six school communities combine at Auten Road Intermediate School for two years, then move together to Hillsborough Middle School for grades seven and eight and Hillsborough High School for grades nine through twelve.
Auten Road is the district’s distinctive transition stage: a dedicated grades 5–6 intermediate school. The home address selects one of the K–4 schools, but every student then follows the same Auten Road–Hillsborough Middle–Hillsborough High sequence. The fourth-to-fifth-grade move is where six elementary communities become one districtwide secondary route.
