About Monroe Township School District
Monroe Township in Middlesex County uses two elementary layers before students reach middle school. Barclay Brook, Brookside, Mill Lake, and Oak Tree serve the lower elementary grades. Students then move into either Applegarth or Woodland, both organized for grades four and five. The two upper-elementary branches finally combine at Monroe Township Middle School for grades six through eight and Monroe Township High School.
This structure means an address can affect more than the first building. A child may have one lower-elementary assignment and then one of two upper-elementary destinations before the district becomes fully centralized in sixth grade. Applegarth and Woodland are not middle schools despite receiving students after an elementary transition; they are a distinct 4–5 layer. The complete path is lower elementary, upper elementary, one middle school, and one high school.
