Rahway Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Rahway keeps students in four elementary schools through grade six, a longer neighborhood stage than in districts that transfer children after fourth or fifth grade. The four routes then combine at the Rahway 7th and 8th Grade Academy before the full city cohort moves to Rahway High School.

The name “academy” describes the districtwide middle-grade school; it is not an optional high-achievement program that families must apply to in place of an ordinary middle school. This two-year stage separates the long K–6 elementary experience from the common high-school route. Preschool has its own registration and capacity rules, including first-come processing when spaces are limited. A preschool seat should not be treated as proof of the later elementary assignment. For the regular K–12 path, the residence determines one of four elementary schools, while grades seven through twelve use shared citywide campuses.
