About Ridgewood Public Schools
Ridgewood’s ordinary K–12 path begins in six neighborhood elementary schools—Hawes, Orchard, Ridge, Somerville, Travell, and Willard—then divides between Benjamin Franklin and George Washington middle schools for grades six through eight. Both middle-school branches lead to Ridgewood High School.
The elementary and middle-school assignments are tied to the residence, and enrollment capacity can affect the final placement. A family should confirm both stages from the current district record; the nearest school or an older street list may not control. The two middle schools are not interchangeable simply because every student later reaches the same high school.
Glen School has a different role. It houses early-childhood programs such as preschool and transitional-kindergarten settings and does not serve as a seventh neighborhood K–5 feeder. A child placed at Glen may still require a separate elementary assignment when entering the regular grade sequence.
