West Orange Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

West Orange operates two maps at the beginning of a child’s education. Its preschool program uses the district’s early learning centers plus a changing group of community providers; the current location list includes sites in West Orange and several neighboring municipalities. A child can be placed outside the township while remaining enrolled in West Orange’s public preschool program.

The regular K–12 route is residence-based. Seven K–5 elementary schools feed Edison, Liberty, or Roosevelt Middle School, and all three middle-school populations ultimately enter West Orange High School. The district publishes a street directory for assignment questions, which is more reliable than guessing from a school’s name or physical proximity.

These two systems should not be collapsed into one feeder ladder. The preschool site is driven by annual program capacity and provider participation; the elementary and middle-school sequence is tied to the home address. The high-school destination is common, but the earlier route can still change after an in-town move.
