Fair Lawn Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Fair Lawn’s main K–12 ladder changes scale twice. Six neighborhood elementary schools serve kindergarten through grade four. Students then enter either Memorial Middle School or Thomas Jefferson Middle School for grades five through eight, before both branches meet at Fair Lawn High School. The unusual point is the grade-five start of middle school: the elementary assignment lasts one year less, and the middle-school placement lasts four years rather than the more common three.

Thomas Edison School sits outside that ordinary feeder sequence. It houses integrated preschool and specialized programs, so its presence in the district directory should not be read as a seventh neighborhood elementary route. For most families, the key assignment questions are the K–4 school and then the Memorial-or-Thomas-Jefferson boundary; high school is shared districtwide. Keeping Thomas Edison’s specialized role separate from the six elementary feeders prevents the school count from creating a false picture of the district’s structure.
