About Morris School District
Morris School District is a regional PK–12 system for Morristown and Morris Township, and its elementary schools use several grade configurations. Alfred Vail, Hillcrest, and Woodland serve K–2; Alexander Hamilton, Sussex Avenue, and Thomas Jefferson serve grades 3–5; Normandy Park continues as a K–5 school. Some children change buildings after second grade, while Normandy Park students can remain in one elementary setting through fifth grade.
All of those elementary paths meet at Frelinghuysen Middle School for grades six through eight and continue to Morristown High School. The high-school cohort expands again because Morris Plains operates its own PK–8 district and sends students to Morristown High for grades nine through twelve.
This creates two different convergence points. Grade six joins the varied elementary configurations of Morristown and Morris Township. Grade nine adds students arriving from a separately governed sending district. A family’s early path depends on the assigned elementary configuration, but the later sequence is one middle school followed by a regional high school with a wider service area.
