Passaic Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Passaic combines ordinary school assignment with application routes that begin before high school. The district’s Gifted and Talented Academy serves grades two through eight. Passaic Academy for Science and Engineering and Passaic Preparatory Academy begin in grade six and continue through grade twelve. Each has an application process and is not an automatic destination for every nearby address.

That creates more than one decision point. A child may remain in the regular elementary and secondary network, apply to the Gifted and Talented Academy during the elementary years, or seek one of the 6–12 academy routes before middle school. Current Passaic students apply through the family portal, while applicants not already enrolled follow a separate account process.

Passaic High School adds pathway choices inside the comprehensive high-school setting. Those internal pathways should be distinguished from admission to a separate 6–12 academy. The district name covers all of these schools, but the mechanism can be residence assignment, academy application, or course-pathway selection depending on the stage.
